Profile

Eric Coates read law at St Edmund Hall, Oxford and was admitted as a solicitor in 1987.

Having worked in the City and central London in the field of commercial litigation he has been a consultant to Dawson Cornwell since 1996.

Working closely with the property department, Eric deals largely with contentious and non-contentious property matters (both residential and commercial), disputed business tenancy renewals, enfranchisement claims and service charge disputes. He also deals with contractual issues which have varied from a large storage total-loss fire claim, partnership disputes, a classic car sale, light aircraft, pleasure craft recovery, sales of goods and services, and debt recovery, as well as some contentious probate work.

Eric is a talented artist and in 2020 exhibited his portrait in oils of his friend, butcher Mark Johns, at the Royal Portrait Society Show, a public exhibition run by Mall Galleries, in Pall Mall, Central London, having been selected from two and a half thousand entries.
