Tanya Arackal

Trainee solicitor

Profile

Tanya joined Dawson Cornwell as a trainee solicitor in September 2024.

She graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Leeds with a degree in Political and Social Science; she then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and achieved a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

Tanya’s undergraduate degree included research into ‘honour’ based violence and its impact on British South Asian families. She was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s award for contribution to equality and diversity for starting her own organisation which provided a platform for women of colour.

Prior to joining Dawson Cornwell, Tanya worked as a family law paralegal at a city law firm, assisting on complex domestic and international divorce and financial remedy disputes for high-net-worth clients.

Tanya has worked on cases across the full spectrum of family law including matrimonial finances, divorce, domestic abuse, child abduction, private and public children law. She has undertaken her own advocacy in the London County Courts, successfully obtaining non-molestation orders for vulnerable clients.

She also created and leads the Aura Collective, a non-profit organisation that supports, through creative workshops, individuals who have experienced violence and abuse.

Tanya is bilingual, speaking both English and Malayalam.
