Your spouse or partner should be invited to attend, although that is not compulsory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"schema-faq wp-block-yoast-faq-block\"><div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1670493428608\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\"><strong>What is a MIAM?<\/strong><\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">A MIAM is an information and assessment meeting where you learn about if mediation is appropriate or not for you, what are the alternatives for mediation and how they compare. It can only be conducted by an accredited mediator (or a mediator working towards accreditation if their PPC signs off the form). If \u00a0you both agree, the mediator can then start the mediation process with you both. \u00a0<br\/>However providing you have attended a MIAM, you are free to issue court proceedings, whether the mediator certifies that the case is suitable for mediation, or not.
