Profile

Philippa is a senior associate who specialises in the areas of Court of Protection matters and family law. In 2023, Philippa was awarded the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients.

Philippa provides high level legal assistance to Jeremy Abraham in his practice as a panel deputy for the Office of the Public Guardian, representing the best interests of those who lack the capacity to represent themselves. Panel deputyship work principally concerns a person’s property and affairs and Philippa regularly prepares applications for the Court of Protection regarding matters such as buying or selling property or for a statutory will. Philippa also deals with the satellite litigation that can arise from deputyship matters including possession proceedings, proceedings under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and contentious trusts matters. Additionally, Philippa assists Jeremy Abraham in his role as a deputy for people who have received personal injury awards as a result of suffering a serious injury and who no longer have the capacity to deal with their financial affairs.

Philippa advises regularly in respect of both property and affairs and health and welfare matters and, in respect of the latter, has worked on cases involving elderly vulnerable people who have been wrongfully removed from the jurisdiction and in relation to allegations of abuse. Philippa also advises in relation to powers of attorney.

Philippa is a member of CoPPA (Court of Protection Practitioners Association), an affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and a member of the PDF (Professional Deputies Forum). She is also a Dementia Friend

Philippa also advises on all aspects of family law, particularly in relation to divorce and financial remedy proceedings. She is a member of Resolution and in 2019, she was shortlisted in the category of Young Solicitor of the Year at The Family Law Awards.

Philippa trained at Dawson Cornwell, qualifying as a solicitor in 2015. Prior to this she worked for three years at a top ranked firm as a paralegal spending two years working in catastrophic personal injury and one year assisting on high value divorce matters. Philippa studied French and Russian at the University of Exeter.
