We are proud to be a founding member of Lawyers Who Care, the first legal-specialised organisation in the UK to offer long-term mentoring and opportunities for paid work experience to people with care experience who dream of being a lawyer. LWC is a community interest company founded by barrister Kate Aubrey-Johnson and future barrister Lucy Barnes.
Partners Hilka Hollmann and Charlotte Image-Flower attended the launch event on Friday 17 May 2024, where attendees heard more about the organisation’s values and vision.
Dawson Cornwell will be providing mentors from the firm and work experience opportunities, and we are excited to be working with an organisation that aims to break down the barriers that can be faced by those with care experience when seeking to enter the legal profession.
To learn more about this initiative please read this Legal Futures’ article re LWC, New group to advance legal careers for those with experience of care and an article in The Times, Removing barriers to law careers for people who grew up in care highlighting the inspiration and hard work of the founders of LWC.
