Martina Ignatova - Dawson Cornwell

Martina joined Dawson Cornwell as a trainee solicitor in December 2021 on six months secondment from Amnesty Solicitors.

She completed her undergraduate LLB degree at the University of Greenwich in 2017 and subsequently completed the combined LLM and Legal Practice Course at BPP University, choosing Family Law as one of her main selected modules. During her studies, Martina took part in pro-bono work as a student adviser at East London Family Court assisting Litigants in Person in the provision of information in relation to child arrangement disputes and a First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointment.

Prior to securing her Training Contract she worked as an immigration law paralegal in 2018 whilst also gaining experience in family law by assisting clients in their divorce and children matters.

Martina won the BPP Professional Development Award 2020 evidencing her interest in law and her commitment to continuous learning and development. She has recently written an article concerning a Consent Order in the appeal case Derhalli v Derhalli [2021] EWCA Civ 112, which has been published in The Review magazine by Resolution.

Martina is fluent in Macedonian. She also speaks Bulgarian and Serbian and has a basic understanding of German.
