Shabina Begum wins Women of the Future Award 2020
Shabina Begum is the winner of the Women of the Future Business Award sponsored by Bank of America.
Having been shortlisted last year, Shabina was selected from stiff competition to win this coveted award on 4 February 2021.
The Judges were looking for:
- Significant and ground-breaking achievements to date;
- High potential;
- Making a distinctive, unusual, innovative contribution in their field;
- Ability, and willingness, to act as a role model to others.
Shabina, who is an Associate, specialising in international child abduction, forced marriage, and gender-based violence was recognised for her achievements including being a UN recognised expert of child, early and forced marriage and her pioneering research on acid violence in Sri Lanka, Cambodia and India. Shabina’s vision is to help end child, early and forced marriage by 2030. She is part of the legal team on the Safeguard Futures: End Child Marriage campaign.
