Naomi Angell has joined Dawson Cornwell as a consultant solicitor in our Children Department.
Naomi specialises in intercountry and domestic adoption, international and domestic surrogacy, and children’s cases with an immigration interface.
Naomi is recognised as a leader in her field in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 directories.
She advises and represents children, birth parents and extended family members, intended parents in surrogacy cases, surrogates, adopters and foster parents. In addition, she advises and acts as an expert witness to local authorities, foreign courts, lawyers and organisations involved in cross-border children’s cases.
Naomi was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 Family Law Awards. She also is a previous recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Family Law Awards.
Naomi combines her case work with involvement with family policy, working to bring about changes in law and practice that she can see from her cases are necessary.
In 1981, the International Year of the Child, Naomi set up the Children’s Legal Centre and, in 2013, was invited to take up the position of Patron at the Centre.
Naomi has been a member of many influential national committees including chairing the Family Law Committee and membership of the Children’s Law Sub-committee of the Law Society. In addition, for some years she chaired the adoption panel of one of the leading national adoption agencies and was legal adviser to the Intercountry Adoption Centre (IAC). She is a member of the Coram/BAAF legal advisory group and was a member of an expert working group of lawyers concerning family law and the impact of Brexit, where she focused on children law issues.
